Associated on 24th Ave / 29th St — deli counter really closed by 6 now?
#1

I used to hit the Associated on 24th Ave near 29th St for sliced turkey after work. Last few times around 6:30 the deli counter looked shut but the lights were still on, and a guy in produce said 'she left.' Is that a permanent thing? I'd rather know before I keep walking over there.

They usually close the slicer around 6 now, maybe 5 on Sundays. It's not posted anywhere. If you need cold cuts after work, go to the Cherry Valley on 21st Ave / 28th. They still slice until 8, but the line gets long after 5:30.

Okay I just moved near this Associated and didn't know they had a deli counter at all. Is it only turkey or do they do cheeses too? Also do I have to take a number or do I just stand there? I get too anxious about queue rules lol

Thanks for this. I went at 7 on Tuesday and saw the counter closed but assumed it was a random issue. Does anyone know if they have a specific day they re-stock the rotisserie chickens? I keep seeing an empty case.

The deli counter at that Associated is weirdly inconsistent! They had the best honey maple turkey but stopped carrying it for a while and then it came back? If you're already over there, have you tried the newer European market on 23rd Ave? They do actual cold cuts by the pound and the women behind the counter let you sample before committing. The only downside is they close early on Wednesdays.

Chelsea_C, I wouldn't count on it after 6:00. A lot of those small Associated spots cut the slicer when the first shift leaves. If you can do pre-packaged, the Stop & Shop on Northern has more variety anyway, but it's a hike.

Good to know. I'll shift my post-work pickup earlier or just go to Cherry Valley. DykerNewbie, they do cheeses, and usually no number — just make eye contact and hover politely. firstwinter, not sure about the rotisserie schedule, swear it's random. rita, I'll try the sample spot on 23rd before I stock up.
