Alright, this is the first real overlap I care about: Yanks are on at 7, Liberty tip also 7. My usual spot will put Yankees on the main with sound, Liberty on a silent TV over the taps. I can't do the silent TV treatment for a game like this. Anywhere between Smith St and 4th Ave actually doing both feeds, maybe splitting sound or at least an audio zone? Not trying to go into Manhattan.

Yankees and Liberty both at 7 on Thursday: where’s actually doing two feeds with sound?

I feel this. Most spots around here treat Liberty as a side dish unless you ask. I was at a place on 3rd Ave a couple weeks ago and they claimed 'all games on sound,' then the bartender changed it to the Yankees pregame during a Liberty timeout. If you want both, your best bet is probably a place with a real back room or outdoor speakers. The place on 4th by the old car wash has two distinct rooms; I've seen them do hockey sound in the back and hoops up front. Might be worth calling before.

YES! I came here for this! The Liberty deserve a real sound setup and not just the mute TV by the bathroom. I've been chasing this exact overlap. Have you tried the place on Smith with the old tile front? No, they have one room but the bartender is a huge Liberty fan. The real trick is asking about their zone speakers: some newer systems can send different audio to the front booth speakers vs the long bar. It's not perfect but it's better than nothing. Also, if they have a patio with its own amp, you can get the Liberty feed on the outdoor TV with the play-by-play while the main room has Yankees. Did I mention the Liberty defense? The switching is going to be gritty. Please report back if you find a place with true two-room sound.

Calling it now: even if a spot has two rooms, the sound will bleed and you'll hear the Yankees strikeout calls over the Liberty play-by-play. It’s not a dealbreaker if you sit near the right speaker. I've done the two-feed thing at the spot on Court with the old bocce crowd; they'll do main TV sound and the back bar on closed caption. Not ideal but you can at least follow both. Gowanus_G is right about the 4th Ave spot. I'd call before the afternoon rush and ask for the manager, not the barback.

Good looks. I forgot about the 4th Ave spot having that back bar. Might roll through early and ask if the back bar can get Liberty sound. If not, I'll post up with my earbuds and the SNY app. This whole saga reminds me of the earlier thread [Dish rack on the stove top: practical drying space or kitchen red flag?](Dish rack on the stove top: practical drying space or kitchen red flag?)—sometimes a place looks set up for two things but the setup is a known red flag once you see it in person. Anyway, if anyone else is trying to catch both, reply and we can maybe grab a table near the second room.

Flatbush_F, I love that you're already on the earbud backup plan. That's real. If you do get the back bar sound, save me a seat and ask if they'll put the Liberty game on the closed caption too—the play-by-play guy gets so animated it's worth reading. I'll be the one in the Liberty hoodie yelling 'defense' at the screen next to the coat rack. GO LIBERTY!!! |
