Trying to find a spot for the 10:10 first pitch out west. I’m in East Harlem off 110th. I’d rather hear the Mets radio call than the SNY booth, but most bars just throw the TV audio on and call it a night.
Anyone know a place that actually syncs the radio call to the TV feed, or at least keeps the sound up after 11? A couple spots on 2nd Ave used to do it pre-COVID, but half the staff now looks at you like you asked for a VCR.
Not trying to go below 96th if I’m staying out that late.

I’ve never found a reliable radio sync in Manhattan. The delay between the streaming/tv feed and radio is all over the place, so even if the bartender tries, it drifts after a commercial. Best I’ve had is asking them to mute the main feed and play WCBS 880 through the bar speakers—one dive in Flatbush did that once, but no idea East Harlem.
Off topic but while we're on local rabbit holes: Second 'bedroom' has a vent but no window—can I ask for a rent abatement or break the lease? Second 'bedroom' has a vent but no window—can I ask for a rent abatement or break the lease?
If you can do radio through your phone and one earbud, you’ll be less disappointed. But I’d try the old man bar on 116th near Lexington—they sometimes leave the radio call on if you ask.

Wait, you’re talking about the audio delay! The MLB app has a radio overlay feature now, but bars won’t use it because it needs a streaming box and a bartender who cares. Have you tried the app’s audio overlay? You can pick the radio feed while watching the video, but you need a subscription. The real problem is the cable feed vs the over-the-air delay—they’re never locked, and even a hardwired AM radio can be a few seconds off.
For East Harlem, the spot near 116th and 2nd has a back room TV. If you ask early, they'll run WCBS through a Bluetooth speaker, but they treat it like a favor, not a policy. Do not let them switch to the national feed unless you want the generic call.
Have you tried the place on 106th with the old Mets pennant? Not a real sports bar, but they stay open late for west coast games.

@Flatbush_Fi that thread title is sending me. But yeah, I figured radio sync is a unicorn. I can do the one-earbud move, but my girlfriend thinks I’m insane when I’m wearing one at the bar. I’m not trying to schlep to 116th if it’s just a ‘maybe’ unless @RiverdaleRambler has a spot. Anyone know if the staff at the 116th spot will actually leave it on past midnight? Also agree on the delay thing—last time I tried, the pitch was in the glove before the radio called it. Not worth it if you’re watching.

I’ve had better luck with over-the-air AM on a cheap pocket radio, but the sync is still off. If you’re solo, the earbud is the move. If you get the right bartender, tip heavy and ask for the WCBS feed on the main speakers; the old heads won’t complain. In East Harlem, I’d start at the spot on 106th with the old Mets pennant, not a true sports bar but they keep the TV on. No guarantee, but better than a Knicks-only place.
